Compass points the way

The Careers & Enterprise Company has published its latest State of the Nation 2019 report based on school and college Compass submissions. The report highlights that over 2,800 schools and colleges have completed Compass twice and they show improvements on every dimension of careers support. It is very important that more and more learning providers complete Compass so that we have an even better snapshot of the national picture in years to come. It is even more important that learning providers make realistic self-assessments and do not fall to the temptation of giving the best impression of thier provision. (Opting for external assessment of your provision through the Quality in Careers Standard is still the best safeguard against that). The Careers & Enterprise Company claims in the report  that "young people are benefitting from a new world-class approach to careers guidance". It is also very important to put the claim of this assertion to the test. Cegnet would like the DfE to commission a review of best practice around the world. Gatsby last looked at best practice around the world in 2013-14. The careers world has moved on and we should be preparing for Gatsby 2.0.
