The Future of Careers Guidance

Careers England (CCE) has published an important position paper addressed to government arguing that it is time for a radical rethink about how we can better deliver accessible, high quality career education and guidance to all ages. The paper points out that current provision, particularly for young people, is patchy and fragmented. As an incentive to government to sort out overlapping and confusing departmental initiatives, CE highlights that access to good lifelong guidance would bring significant educational, social, welfare and economic benefits.  The model CE recommends is for careers education and guidance to be provided through a local delivery model, co-ordinated by a national strategy and overseen by an independent stakeholder body.
